UNDERSTANDING THE PROBLEM
First of all it is about to know your competitors. What might the mistakes they take or took? What they might do good? After the research we know better who might be our target audience? Where I see risk and opportunities.
To illustrate better the need of users between the teams I created user personas that stand out for needs and behaviors a certain task. The app should be for everybody. What means it should be convenient for the couple at the end of their 50th as also the young family or the single should use it.
INTERVIEWS & SURVEYS
To have more input I interviewed people that fit to the apps stakeholders.
USER JOURNEY BECOMES USER FLOW
From knowing who is our user personas we can develop fictional tasks to get new ideas and have a better understanding how to implement this use better to a service.
BUILDING THE APPS STRUCTURE
By combining the first “user flows” with each other I developed the first app structure and reviewed the framework via “closed card sorting”.
LOW FIDELITY WIREFRAME FOR MOBILE
Based on the apps structure I built the first screens.
LOW FIDELITY WIREFRAME FOR DESKTOP
I developed the mobile application and added the desktop version as well. The goal was not just to make a copy. It is about to think how to use the more space and what kind of functions are more convenient to use on desktop than on mobile or the other way around.
MID FIDELITY WIREFRAME
Now I am working on content that is closer to reality. I implemented text and the UI was coming more in the focus of developing the app than before. While I was working on the wireframes the app was growing more and more and the functions became more detailed.
Also I developed ideas for cross disciplinary teams. How to earn money with the app? How to get the users attention? How to create a tour from the development point of view? Those questions became more and more important.
USABILITY TEST METHODS
After having a clickable prototype I could run through the hole methods depending on the question I would have liked to solve. Of course, I started with some moderated interviews. For sure this method is very time-consuming but the you get the most of it as well. Smaller tests like A/B Tests I did while I was designing the app. That will
HIGH FIDELITY PROTOTYPE
From now on the circle of developing and testing begins…
